Port Canaveral, Florida wasn’t what we were expecting. We got a cab and went to a local bar, Fishlips, while we waited for our helicopter ride over the city! Our server Brenna was amazing, as well as the food! We shared the lobster bisque, spinach artichoke dip, and crab cakes, we also each had a local beer. After our snacks, we walked a few blocks down to the helipad. Man, it was hot outside. Dripping sweat and waiting for our helicopter tour guide, he gave us a call and told us he was running late so we walked across the street and went to the Discovery Tower.
Inside the Discovery Tower, we learned a lot about the cruise ship history of Port Canaveral and a little about the Kennedy Space Center. Then the heavens opened up and it started POURING rain right when we started walking back to the helipad!!!
We got settled into the helicopter and we were ready to go! Our tour guide was super nice and gave us a great tour! He took us over Cocoa Beach, the Banana River, the cruise ship terminal, and showed us the Kennedy Space Center (we couldn’t fly over it because it’s a protected air zone). The ride was so amazing, we enjoyed ourselves so much and would 1,000% do another helicopter ride!!!
After the helicopter ride, we grabbed a Lyft and headed over to Cocoa Beach. We had expected a bit more, but we made the most of it. We hung out at a bar right on the beach and enjoyed some drinks and just relaxing. Sammi was scared that she didn’t pack enough clothes, so we went to a placed called Beall’s, and while we were there we found a super cool Irish pub called Nolan’s so naturally, we went and had a beer and the headed back to the ship! We got some dinner in one of the dining rooms and then off to bed for us.
